Luxury brand Saint Laurent, owned by Kering, has just announced the creation of Saint Laurent Productions, its film production company. The Kering group is already involved in the film industry with the "Women in Motion" program, which "shines a light on women in cinema, both in front of and behind the camera." However, Saint Laurent Productions allows the brand to take a new step forward. Saint-Laurent now claims to be the first luxury brand to include full-fledged film production in its activities. "I want to work with all the great talents in cinema who have inspired me over the years and offer them a space," said Saint Laurent's creative director Anthony Vaccarello in a statement. The newly created production company is about to enter the big leagues with the film "Strange Way of Life," directed by Pedro Almodovar and starring Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal, which will debut at the Cannes Film Festival in a few weeks.

Following Pedro Almodovar, Saint Laurent Productions already has other projects underway with Canadian director David Cronenberg and Italian director Paolo Sorrentino. "These filmmakers never fail to open my mind and, in a way, the singular and radical vision they bring to cinema has made me the person I am today," explains creative director Anthony Vaccarello. Vaccarello, who has been in his position since 2016, will also design costumes for films produced by Saint Laurent.
